Torzon Decisions Every choice this involves, with what each option costs you
Start › The decisions

Keep going or stop

Almost nobody decides this. They drift, which leaves an account, a balance and a set of saved addresses behind.

Continue deliberately

What you gain
You keep the habits sharp because you know you are choosing this, rather than doing it out of momentum.
What you give up
It requires actually looking at what it costs you in time, money and attention.
Suits
Anyone who is still doing this after the novelty has gone.

Stop properly

What you gain
Nothing left behind. No balance, no live account, no saved addresses waiting for a distracted evening.
What you give up
An hour of winding down, spread over however long the last order takes to close.
Suits
Anyone who has decided, and anyone who has quietly stopped already.

Drift

What you gain
No effort now.
What you give up
An abandoned account with standing is worth something to somebody else, an abandoned balance is simply gone, and old addresses stay in your list.
Suits
Nobody deliberately, which is exactly the problem.

Signals worth taking seriously

What the signals meanNone of these say stop. They say the decision is due, and a decision that is due and not made is made by default in the direction of drift.

Stopping properly

  1. Close out everything open. Do not walk away with an order in flight, because a window will pass and a late dispute is a lost one.
  2. Withdraw the balance in full. This is the item most often left behind.
  3. Change the password to something random you do not keep. An account you cannot get into is an account nobody else gets into either.
  4. Delete saved addresses rather than archiving them.
  5. Clear what is on your own machine, including anything in a downloads folder.
  6. If you reused that password anywhere, change it there too. This is the one step that protects something outside this subject entirely.

What tips it

Whether you would make the same decision today from a standing start. That is the only version of this question that avoids the sunk cost, and it is the version people avoid asking precisely because the answer is sometimes no.
